Hi and welcome.
I'm Carla Roderick, and I create diaper cakes and baby gift baskets. I started making gift baskets about 18 years ago. My first basket was the result of being unable to find a suitable container for the Baby Shower favors at and event that I was co-hosting. The unique solution that I came up with was to suspend a basket from the ceiling, low enough for the guest to help themselves, decorated with various infant gadgets (bottle brushes, rattles, booties, etc) strung from the bottom with colorful ribbons, similar to a mobile. It was a hit. Interestingly, that first basket is still in tact and will be reused when the recipient celebrates the birth of her first grandchild.
Over the years, friends and family have requested this one-of-a-kind gift as the centerpiece for their shower.
Recently, my focus has shifted into designing diaper cakes. I again have put my own creative spin on this idea as well. I use infant clothing to decorate my cakes. Each one is unique, adorable and affordable. My one layer cake is packaged in a cake box adorned with ribbon ready for gifting.
On a personal note, I am married and one of the parents' to 8 remarkable children. I don't use any products in my cakes that I have not used for my own children. All ingredients are new.
